AirTran Is Hiking Fees For The Second Checked Bag, Oversized Bags And Overweight Bags

Travelers who have purchased tickets on AirTran after August 14, 2008, will have to pay more to check bags starting September 17, 2008. Tickets purchased prior to August 15, 2009 can still check a second bag for a $10 prepaid online or $20 at the airport.

The new fee will jump to $25 for the second bag.

For any checked bag that weighs 51 to 70lbs, the new fee will go from $29 to $39 per bag. United Airlines charges $125 for bags 51 to 70lbs. Luggage weighing 71 to 100lbs will increase to $79 per bag.
