Delta And JetBlue To Reduce Service at Newburgh (NY) Airport; AirTran Leaves
Altogether.
Stewart International Airport located near Newburgh, New York has taken some
hits with more to come. First, Skybus Airlines went out of business and
eliminated all flights.
As of September 3, 2008, AirTran Airways will cease
operations at Stewart. On the same date, JetBlue will discontinue all service
from Stewart to West Palm Beach. They will also one of the current two daily
flights for Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
Delta will reduce their four daily flights out of Stewart down to three.
With the loss of AirTran, the largest discount airline flying out of Stewart,
expect to see much higher airfares especially for business travelers.
