Minneapolis low-cost Sun Country files for bankruptcy, but keeps on flying.

On October 7, 2008, Sun Country, which has helped to keep airfares down on leisure rates out of Minneapolis, filed for bankruptcy. Sun Country CEO, Stan Gadek, stated that it does not expect any disruption.

If there is any good news for those in Minneapolis, it's that starting in March 2009, Southwest Airlines begins service between Minneapolis and Chicago with connecting service to Southwest Airlines 64 U.S. cities.

Always remember to use credit cards when purchasing airline tickets. Paying with debit cards or cash, will give you little protection if an airline ceases operations.
